Who are we?
Founded in 2014, the IBioIC CTP delivers an award-winning, industry-led and comprehensive structured training programme to over 50 students across the UK.
The IBioIC PhD training programme was initiated in 2014 following funding support from the Scottish Funding Council (SFC). As a result of additional funding being awarded from the BBSRC in January 2017, IBioIC expanded its training programme to form a Collaborative Training Partnership (CTP).
The end goal of the CTP is to provide students with the skills required to significantly contribute to the growth of the biotechnology industry as required by the National Plan for IB and the UK Industrial Strategy. In addition, the IBioIC CTP aims to foster life-long networks within biotechnology industry through cross cohort training and interaction.
For nascent industries such as the industrial biotechnology sector, start-ups, micro and small to medium-sized businesses are often the drivers behind the novel technologies, processes and business models required to develop the market. To address this imbalance, a key component of the IBioIC CTP is a strategic focus on supporting PhD projects led by SMEs alongside the delivery of larger company projects.
